About Beth
When she was 7, an energetic Beth joined a local gymnastics club, Crewe and Nantwich. At first gymnastics was just a fun hobby but her coaches soon recognised potential in Beth and she began training more seriously. Between 1994 and 1996 Beth was a member of the British Junior National Team. After competing in her first National Espoir Championships she made the decision to move to The City of Liverpool Gymnastics Club where she has trained for the past 14 years. Beth is coached by 1984 Olympic gymnast Amanda Reddin and together the pair have achieved phenomenal results. Beth has represented Great Britain on numerous occasions across 6 continents and is the most successful gymnast ever from Great Britain. She has attended the European Championships, Commonwealth Games, World Championships, World University Games and was an Olympian in 2004 and 2008. Her first major medal came in 2002 with a bronze medal on A-bars at the Europeans in Patras, Greece and a gold on A-bars at the Manchester Commonwealth Games. These were to be the first of many. Beth is now 7 times British Champion, 6 times European Champion and 3 times World Champion.

On April Fool's Day 1985, Elizabeth Kimberley Tweddle made an early entrance into this world. Weighing in at just under 5lbs, no one could have predicted then how successful Beth would become in such an athletic sport. The first 12 months of Beth's life was spent in Johannesburg, South Africa where the family were living due to her father's work. The family including father, Jerry, mother, Ann and older brother James returned to the UK when Beth was a toddler. At first gymnastics was just a fun hobby but her coaches Charlie Oaks and Fergus Beedham soon recognised potential in Beth and she began training more seriously. Between 1994 and 1996 Beth was a member of the British Junior National Team. After competing in her first National Espoir Championships she made the decision to move to The City of Liverpool Gymnastics Club where she has trained for the past 14 years. Beth's first international appearance was in 1998 in Malmo, Sweden. Beth is coached by 1984 Olympic gymnast Amanda Reddin and together the pair have achieved phenomenal results. Beth has represented Great Britain on numerous occasions across 6 continents and is the most successful gymnast ever from Great Britain. She has attended 10 European Championships, 2 Commonwealth Games, 8 World Championships and 2 World University Games. She was an Olympian in 2004 and 2008. Beth has also continued with her education and in 2007 graduated from John Moores University, where she was a sports scholar with a 2:1 in Sports Science. She has a place at the University of Liverpool to start Physiotherapy in 2012. Away from her gymnastics and education Beth has a company called Total Gymnastics. The company works with schools, leisure centres and gymnastics clubs to help develop her sport.
